Job Description

A large financial institution in the Richmond, Virginia area that is hiring for an Accounting Clerk. We are looking for professional candidates with accounting knowledge and experience within financial services.

Summary:

Responsible for the timely and accurate processing of a high volume of garnishments. Handles all garnishment inquiries and processes garnishment paperwork.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for the accurate processing of all incoming garnishments, child support orders and tax levies:

  • Processing includes receiving new/amended garnishment orders, reviewing orders for validity, entering and updating garnishment deductions in the system, sending garnishment letters to associates, garnishment law research and filing of required garnishment records.
  • Responsible for all garnishment-related correspondence with associates and agencies.
  • Answers phone/email inquiries from associates about garnishment orders.
  • Provides feedback to the supervisor to ensure timely issue escalation.
  • Ensures garnishment order releases are entered into the system and deductions are stopped on time.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Regular attendance is required to be successful in this role.

Job Requirements

Basic Qualifications/ Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of previous garnishments/ payroll experience

Preferred Qualifications/ Experience:

  • Previous garnishments/ payroll experience
  • Demonstrated customer service skills, attention to detail and decision making skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
