DUTIES: 

Medical Benefit Administrator’s provides patients access to the medications and therapies they need by communicating with insurance companies to verify patient-specific benefits for edibility of medications. The Medical Benefit Administrator Specialist will complete forms to document patient benefits coverage. Medical Benefit Administrator helps make medication more affordable and allows patients to start treatments faster.

Job Requirements

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Verifying patient insurance benefit information with insurance providers.
  • Research cases with missing information on patience behalf.
  • Verifies specific benefits and precisely documents specifics for various insurance plans including patient coverage, cost share, and access.
  • Identifying any coverage restrictions and details on how to expedite patient access.
  • Documenting and initiating prior authorization process and claims appeals.
  • Reporting any payment delays to management.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Requires minimum of two (2) years directly related and progressively responsible. Experience in customer service, medical billing and coding, benefits verification, healthcare, business administration or similar vocations.
  • A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Strong customer service experience.
  • Proficient Windows-based experience including fundamentals of data entry/typing.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism.
  • Independent problem solver and ability to make good decisions.
  • Robust analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication.
  • Attention to detail, flexibility, and the ability to adapt to changing work situations
