Human Resources (HR) Director

Role Purpose:

  • Ensures division has the right number and type of talent required to execute divisional strategy and achieve desired business results
  • Ensures division realizes required levels of employee productivity and performance excellence
  • Ensures division establishes and maintains a positive work environment
  • Scales the type and level of HR service provided to the division in anticipation of the specific needs of the division’s business portfolio and in conjunction with the business strategy
  • Ensures the successful implementation of national HR business processes within the division

Job Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with Managers and Business Leaders to prioritize current and future talent requirements which could affect achievement of strategic objectives
  • Takes actions required to address key talent gaps, ensuring division has the right people in the right place at the right time
  • Collaborates with Managers and Business Leaders to identify and implement targeted division and individual development plans that address targeted talent gaps in a timely manner
  • Partners with Business Leaders to identify and implement a compelling employee value proposition that enables the division to attract and retain the number and type of talent required to close talent gaps
  • Effectively deploys performance management and rewards processes/practices within the division to drive required levels of employee accountability for desired performance results and ensure retention of top performers
  • Uses the appropriate processes to:
    • Identify the division’s human capital priorities over the next one to two years
    • Determine the type and level of support required from HR to effectively address these priorities
  • Serves as a bridge between the division and the HR function to ensure business requirements influence HR strategy and that HR strategy is relevant to the division
  • Coaches division management in development and implementation of required programs and processes to establish and maintain a positive work environment
  • Identifies and implements cost reduction strategies for implementation across the function that support the achievement of top quartile cost objective

Performance Metrics:

  • Achievement of stated Division performance results (cost, quality, delivery, productivity)
  • Percent favorable response of customers to HR service quality, delivery, and business impact
  • Timely placement of qualified candidates for key Division jobs (time to fill)
  • Division Climate Survey Results: Overall Results compared to past performance and Corporate Comparisons; Percent of employees indicating clear understanding of Division strategy, goals and objectives; Percent of employees who perceive Division communications are effective at keeping them engaged and informed around strategy, goals, objectives and changing business needs; Degree to which employees perceive they are being supported in their professional development; Degree to which employees perceive that their leadership is effective
  • People Review – completion of defined talent management actions within stated time frames
  • Development and implementation of division diversity strategy
